Oakville Hydro Energy Services Inc.
Oakville Hydro’s Green Light Solar Program is a significant part of its renewable generation development plan. Installing roof-top and ground mounted solar panel arrays will provide environmental and economic benefits for the installation host, the province and the Town of Oakville.
With advancing technology and significant material cost reduction, solar installations have expanded into residential and commercial areas, with governments offering incentive programs to make this "green" energy a more economically viable supply option. In Ontario, the government’s Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program (RESOP) allows homeowners, businesses and institutions with solar panel installations to sell the energy they produce back to the grid. RESOP is one of the programs arising from the approval of Ontario’s Green Energy Act.
Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity. Sunlight can be converted directly into electricity using a photovoltaic cell or panels. This photovoltaic technology was initially used for small to medium-sized applications from hand-held calculators powered by a single solar cell to off-grid homes powered by a photovoltaic array.
